What happens at a hygiene appointment

A hygiene appointment focuses on the health of your gums, not just your teeth, removing the plaque and tartar buildup that a toothbrush can't reach on its own, and catching early signs of gum disease before they become a bigger problem.

From £80 (weekday) / £85 (Saturday) · Airflow polishing +£20

What is Airflow polishing?

Airflow is a stain-removal treatment that uses a fine jet of compressed air, water, and fine powder particles to lift surface staining from tea, coffee, red wine, tobacco, and some mouthwashes, without the scraping sensation of traditional polishing.

It's available as an add-on to your standard hygiene appointment for an additional £20. Our hygienists will recommend it where it'll genuinely help, not as a routine add-on.

FAQs

How much does a hygiene appointment cost?

A 30-minute hygiene appointment is £80 on weekdays and £85 on Saturdays. Airflow stain-removal polishing is an additional £20.

What is Airflow polishing and do I need it?

Airflow uses a fine jet of air, water, and powder to remove surface staining from drinks like tea, coffee, and red wine, or from tobacco. It's not essential for everyone, your hygienist can advise at your appointment.

How often should I have a hygiene appointment?

Most patients benefit from a hygiene appointment every six months. If you have gum disease or are prone to staining, your hygienist may recommend more frequent visits.

Will my hygiene appointment hurt?

Most patients find hygiene appointments comfortable. Mild sensitivity for a day or two afterwards is normal, particularly if it's been a while since your last visit.

I haven't had a hygiene appointment in years, is that a problem?

Not at all. We never make patients feel judged for a gap in care, we'll focus on where your gum health is now and build a plan from there.

Can I book a hygiene appointment on a Saturday?

Yes, Saturday hygiene appointments are available at £85 for a 30-minute visit.
