Whether you're looking for a new dentist in Guildford, you haven't been for a while, or you've had a difficult experience elsewhere and aren't sure where to start, we'd like to help. Northdene Dental Surgery has been caring for patients on London Road, Guildford, since 1978. We're a friendly, experienced team offering NHS and private dental care, and we take the time to get to know our patients properly, before we do anything else.

There's no pressure here. Just good dentistry, at your pace.

There's no pressure here. Just good dentistry, at your pace.

5 Steps to

Your first Appointment

01

A conversation before anything else

Your dentist will sit down with you and talk. They'll ask about your dental history, any concerns you have, and what brought you in. If it's been a long time, or if you're nervous, or if there's something specific you'd like addressed, this is the moment to say so. There's no wrong answer and no judgment.

02

A thorough examination

Your dentist will carry out a full dental examination, checking your teeth, gums, and the soft tissues of your mouth. We take X-rays where needed. This gives us a complete picture before we make any recommendations.

03

A clear explanation of what we find

Before anything else happens, we'll tell you clearly and simply what we've found. We use plain language. No unexplained jargon. If you don't understand something, ask, we'd rather explain it five times than have you leave uncertain.

04

A treatment plan, at your pace

If treatment is needed, we'll talk through your options and give you the information you need to make a decision you're comfortable with. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is booked without your agreement. Nothing is done at the first appointment that you haven't had the chance to consider.

05

Time for your questions

Before you leave, we want to make sure you have everything you need. Is there anything you didn't understand? Anything that worries you for next time? We'd rather spend an extra five minutes now than have you leave with unanswered questions.

Our goal

Every patient leaves feeling listened to and relaxed.

You don't need to book a treatment to speak to us. If you're thinking about registering, if it's been a while since you visited a dentist and you're not quite ready to make an appointment, or if you simply want to ask a question before committing to anything, call us. There's no pressure, no obligation, and no expectation that you'll have everything figured out before you call.

Understanding NHS and Private Dentistry

NHS dental care

NHS dental treatment covers the clinical care you need to keep your teeth and mouth healthy, examinations, X-rays, fillings, extractions, root canal treatment, hygiene. Treatment is organised into three charge bands. You pay a set charge for each band regardless of how much treatment falls within it. We will always tell you which band applies before treatment begins. There are no surprises.

Private dental care

Private treatment gives you access to a wider range of options including Invisalign, dental implants, cosmetic whitening, porcelain veneers, and certain crown and filling materials. Private fees are discussed clearly and in full before any treatment begins. You will always receive a written treatment plan with costs before you commit to anything. We do not surprise patients with bills.

Can I have both NHS and private at the same practice?

Yes. Many patients use NHS care for routine dental health needs and access private treatments like Invisalign or whitening alongside that. Everything is available at the same London Road practice.
